What Our Structured Cabling Installations Include

Survey, Design & Cable Schedule

We survey your premises, plan cable routes, produce a full outlet schedule, and specify the correct cabling standard — before a single cable is touched. This prevents costly mistakes and ensures your installation is designed for your actual usage.

Cat6 / Cat6a Installation

Neat, concealed cable runs wherever possible — in trunking, through voids, under floors, and in containment. Correctly dressed, labelled, and terminated at both outlet and patch panel. No messy, exposed cable runs.

Patch Panel Installation & Cable Management

Clean, labelled patch panels in your comms cabinet — with properly managed patch leads, logical port numbering, and clear documentation. A well-organised patch panel saves hours of fault-finding time over the lifetime of your network.

Fluke DSX Testing & Certification

Every outlet is tested using Fluke DSX cable analyser to TIA-568 / ISO/IEC 11801 standard. You receive a full PDF test report with pass results for every link — essential for warranties, insurance, and future fault-finding.

As-Built Documentation

We provide full as-built documentation on completion — outlet schedules, cabinet drawings, test reports, and cable route diagrams. This makes future moves, adds and changes fast and accurate, and is invaluable for any future engineer.

Fibre Optic Cabling Portsmouth

Copper has limits. Fibre doesn't. For building backbones, inter-floor links, site-to-site connections, and high-speed uplinks, fibre optic delivers bandwidth copper can never match — and remains future-proof for decades.

Every Fibre Link

Multimode & Singlemode Fibre — Full Installation & Testing

Multimode Fibre

OM3 / OM4 multimode for shorter runs — within a building, between floors, or between close buildings up to ~500m. Ideal for 10G/40G switch uplinks and data centre top-of-rack links.

Singlemode Fibre

OS2 singlemode for long-distance runs — site-to-site links across a campus, between buildings, or between premises kilometres apart. Supports 100G+ speeds over very long distances.

Fusion Splicing

Fusion splicing for permanent, low-loss joins — essential for long runs, blown fibre systems, and re-terminations after damage. Lower attenuation than mechanical connectors.

OTDR Testing

Every fibre link is OTDR-tested — we measure attenuation, locate faults or splices, and provide a full power budget report. You know exactly what you've got.

Site-to-Site Fibre Links

Do you have two buildings on the same site — a warehouse and an office, two floors in separate wings, or premises on the same street? We install site-to-site fibre links in armoured ducted cable — connecting buildings with gigabit or 10-gigabit bandwidth at a fraction of the cost of leased lines.

Server Installation & Network Infrastructure Portsmouth

The physical infrastructure behind your network is just as critical as the cabling. We design and build server rooms, comms rooms, and network equipment installations — from a single-rack office setup to a multi-rack data room with redundant power and cooling.

What We Design, Build & Manage

Server Installation & Configuration

Physical server installation, racking, cable management, and configuration — including virtualisation on VMware ESXi and Windows Hyper-V. We integrate servers cleanly into your existing or new network infrastructure.

Rack & Cabinet Builds

Floor-standing and wall-mount rack installation — fully populated with patch panels, switches, UPS, cable management, and horizontal/vertical manager. Labelled, documented, and neat enough to walk any auditor through.

Comms Room & Server Room Builds

Complete comms room builds — floor planning, cable containment, rack positions, power distribution (PDUs), UPS installation, cooling assessment, and structured cabling. We deliver the room ready to populate.

Managed Switch & Firewall Installation

Cisco, HP/Aruba, UniFi, Netgear, Draytek and more — we configure managed switches (VLANs, QoS, link aggregation), firewalls, and routing — building the logical network on top of the physical cabling infrastructure.

Site-to-Site Networking

Connecting multiple offices, floors, or buildings under one managed network — via fibre backbone, MPLS, SD-WAN, or VPN over internet links. We design, implement, and manage multi-site network infrastructure end-to-end.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions Portsmouth and Hampshire businesses most commonly ask about data cabling and network infrastructure.

What is the difference between Cat6 and Cat6a data cabling?

Cat6 supports 1Gbps at 100 metres and 10Gbps at shorter runs up to 55 metres. Cat6a (augmented) supports the full 10Gbps at 100 metres and handles PoE++ power delivery better due to thicker cable construction. For standard office environments, Cat6 is entirely sufficient and more cost-effective. For server rooms, data centres, and future-proofed infrastructure where you anticipate 10G to the desktop or heavy PoE loads, we recommend Cat6a. We advise during your free survey which standard suits your specific project.

Do you test and certify every data cabling installation?

Yes — every outlet on every installation is tested using a Fluke DSX cable analyser to TIA-568 / ISO/IEC 11801 standard. Every fibre link is OTDR tested. You receive a full PDF test report showing the pass result for every individual outlet — including all measured parameters. This documentation is essential for manufacturer warranties, insurance purposes, and future fault-finding. We don't sign off any installation without a complete pass on every outlet.

Can you install fibre optic cabling between buildings on the same site?

Yes. We install armoured outdoor fibre optic cable between buildings — either buried in conduit or run overhead — to create a high-speed site-to-site backbone. This is the most cost-effective way to connect two buildings with gigabit or 10-gigabit bandwidth, avoiding the ongoing monthly cost of a leased line or the limitations of wireless point-to-point links. We survey the route, plan the containment, install the armoured cable, splice and terminate, then OTDR test the completed link.

Do you build server rooms and comms rooms from scratch?

Yes. We handle complete comms room and server room builds — planning the rack layout, installing floor-standing or wall-mount cabinets, building out patch panels and cable management, installing UPS and power distribution units, and running the structured cabling from the room to every outlet in the building. We can also supply and configure servers, managed switches, and firewalls, and install cooling if required. The room is handed over fully documented and ready to operate.

Can you audit and remediate an existing messy cabling installation?

Yes. Messy, undocumented cabling is one of the most common problems we're asked to fix. We survey and document the existing cabling, identify any faults or sub-standard installations, tidy and re-dress patch panels and cabinets, replace any failing outlets or damaged cable runs, test and certify the complete installation, and produce full as-built documentation. The result is a network you can actually manage and fault-find efficiently.

What areas do you cover for data cabling projects?

We are based in Portsmouth and primarily serve Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport, Waterlooville, Havant, Southampton, Chichester and the wider Hampshire and West Sussex area. For larger infrastructure projects — full new-build fit-outs, multi-site rollouts, or data centre work — we also work nationally. Contact us with your location and project details and we'll confirm whether we can help.
